Jersey Christmas Walk
Please ensure that you check in with an official at each checkpoint by showing them your walk number. You should place your bag in the 'out' pile when you are ready to go. It is important to let the checkpoint official know if you are not continuing. This helps us ensure we know where you are on the walk and is a vital part of your safety.
Section 8: La Pulente Pub, St Ouen
After leaving the pub take the footpath to the right just before the black and white chevrons at the sharp bend in the road. Follow this path around the headland to Petit Port, descending to the road via the path at the top of the slipway. On joining the road turn right and follow the road round to Corbiere.
From Corbiere proceed up the main road for about a mile passing the turning for the prison on your right. Continue along the main road for another 400 yards until you reach a sign post for Beauport. Turn right into Rue des Champs and follow the road down into St. Brelade's Bay, exiting by the Fisherman's Chapel.
If the tide permits (high tide is at 18.16) turn right onto the beach and across to the finish at Ouaisne. After approximately 15.45 the tide will have reached the Point Le Grouin which divides St Brelade's Bay from Ouaisne Bay. If you are unable to get across the beach you will need to take a route over the headland.
If the tide does not allow you to walk across the beach, turn right at the road junction and continue past St Brelade's Bay Hotel. Just after the Hotel join the promenade near the Pizza Express restaurant. Proceed along the promenade to the far end and then take the path over the headland which will be clearly marked, and then on to the finish at Ouaisne.
We will be waiting for you in the Smugglers Inn pub which if you are doing the full 44 mile walk you will have walked past when you started the walk some hours ago at 2.00am.

CONGRATULATIONS - You have now completed your particular challenge and either (i) walked 70.4 km / 44 miles around the Island of Jersey; or (ii) walked 28.3 km / 17.7 miles on the Daytime Walk; or (iii) completed one or more sections of the Team Relay - on one of the shortest days of the year.
Time to enjoy a well earned hot drink and a mince pie or two or a drink in the Smugglers...you deserve it!!!!
